Fort Aguada and its lighthouse is a well-preserved seventeenth-century Portuguese fort standing in Goa, India, on Sinquerim Beach, overlooking the Arabian Sea.
The fort was constructed in 1613 to guard against the Dutch and the Marathas. It was a reference point for the vessels coming from Europe at that time. This old Portuguese fort stands on the beach south of Candolim, at the shore of the Mandovi River. It was initially tasked with defense of shipping and the nearby Bardez sub district.
Vagator Beach has dramatic red cliffs looking down on the shore and two fresh water springs within a stone's throw of the sea. But Vagator has little by way of seaside accommodation.
Beach is split into two main beaches by a seaside headland which holds the car park and lots of stalls selling trinkets, clothes, soft drinks and snacks. As you face the sea, on your right is North Vagator Beach (Big Vagator)and on your left Ozran Beach, more commonly known as Little Vagator Beach.
Vagator is a little more laid back, though still pretty much steeped in the rave culture. The tourist traffic is predominantly Western backpackers, however it has also become popular with Indian tourists, who particularly come to watch the sunset from the rocks. The sunset through rocks is breathtaking from Vagator Beach.
There are a number of places playing to a dance & trance crowd during the tourist season. These include: Nine Bar located just above Little Vagator, Hilltop (a little back from Little Vagator) and Primrose back towards Big Vagator beach, they play different types of trance and psychedelic music from different DJ's from around the world. Disco Valley of Vagator Beach is a place that used to be the place for Goan trance parties starting from very early 1990s.
Also there are a number of Mediterranean and Indian Cafes/Hotels serving a variety of food and drink. The tourist traffic is predominantly Western backpackers, however it has also become popular with Indian tourists, who particularly come to watch the sunset from the rocks.
The popular Sunburn Festival shift its base to Vagator from Candolim Beach. :)

Mandvi is a picturesque town with many old buildings. It was an important port of the Jadeja Rajputs, who claim descent from Lord Krishna. They are said to moved to Sindh when Krishna’s capital, Dwarka, was submerged by the sea. In the 1540s, the Jadejas became ruler of Kutch. Times were turbulent until the arrival of the British who brought the kingdoms under their umbrella. By then Kutch was one of the largest princely states in India and the Maharao was awarded a salute of 17 guns, the second highest in Gujarat after the Maharaja of Baroda.
During the days of sail, Mandvi prospered and was known for it's superb sailors. Ocean-going merchant vessels of Mandvi travelled between Zanzibar in Africa and Calcutta in eastern India via the ports of Arabia, Persian gulf and the western coast of India, trading cotton, rice, salt and pottery of India for ivory, cloves and rhino hide from Africa. Even Vasco Di Gama is said to have used sailors from Mandvi to navigate the stretch from Mombasa to Zanzibar.
The Maharaos, Rajput rulers of Kutch, maintained a huge fleet of cargo, passenger and war ships. The Maharaos were respected even by the Mughals, for Mandvi was one of the few important ports in India that was not captured by the Portugese and other European invaders in the 17th century.
Mandvi therefore became an important trade post for Mughal India and an important harbour for India’s Muslim pilgrims to start their pigrimage to Mecca. In the 1760s, a ship of Rao Godji of Kutch is said to have travelled to England and back from Mandvi.
Mandvi is also interesting for watching and photographing birds like the flamingos, godwits, sandpipers, gulls. There are beaches in and around Mandvi.
Kutch, India’s Wild West, is a geographic phenomenon, full of rustic
beauty. What appears an endless desert plain running dead straight into
the horizon, is in fact a seasonal island. It resembles a Katchua or Kachbo,
meaning tortoise and is surrounded by sea water. Ancient temples,
attractive palaces, rugged forts, flamingos, wild asses, harsh sunlight,
moderate rainfall and the cool evening breeze — you have it all in
Kutch.
The arid lifeless landscape is dotted by villages that produce
some of India’s finest textiles glittering with exquisite embroidery
and mirror work. The district is also famous for the ecologically
important Banni grasslands, which with its seasonal marshy wetlands form
the outer belt of the Rann of Kutch.
The Rann of Kutch is divided into
the Great Rann Of Kutch and the Little Rann Of Kutch. The Great Rann of
Kutch spans an area of 7505.22 sq km. It is home to a wide array of
flora and fauna. During diverse weather conditions migratory birds find a
home here.
The Little Rann of Kutch occupies 4,953 sq km and is spread out in the districts of Surendranagar, Banasakantha, Patan, Kutch and Rajkot in Gujarat. Known as The Wild Ass Sanctuary, the endangered Ghudkhur is seen here in large numbers.
Yoga means so many different things to
so many different people. To some it is a practice of physical
postures, to others it is a spiritual practice, some have a strong
religious relationship to it, to others it might represent a way to
relax, or to stretch. It's philosophical to others. A community for
some.
